Junior Business Analyst

The role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Business Analyst to join our IT team and help us improve our digital products and services.  You will work closely with the Senior Business Analyst, Project Managers, Technical team, and Fee earners to gather, analyse, and communicate business requirements and solutions.

Once established in the role you will also have the opportunity to learn and apply various business analysis tools and techniques, such as user stories, wireframes, prototypes, data models, and testing scenarios during a Level 4 apprenticeship course. The apprenticeship will last for 12-18 months and provide the opportunity for you to expand your credentials.

To drive the required efficiencies across the business, you will demonstrate the initiative, as well as the confidence, to propose technical and / or non-technical options for consideration. You will also support colleagues in the creation of business cases to implement the chosen solution(s). As necessary, you will assist their stakeholders in presenting options to senior colleagues for review / approval (e.g. the firm's Management Committee, Project Sponsors, etc.).

In addition to assisting colleagues in identifying opportunities, efficiencies, etc., you will work closely with the Senior Business Analyst to coordinate the Projects Team's response to the business's requirements, helping prioritise the Project Team's workload – ensuring that the team's objectives are aligned with the firm's needs.

Role responsibility

The Junior Business Analyst will take responsibility for;

  • Assisting the Senior Business Analyst in eliciting, documenting, and validating business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Assisting in creating and maintaining various business analysis artifacts, such as user stories, wireframes, prototypes, business cases, data models, and testing scenarios.
  • Assisting in conducting user research, interviews, surveys, and usability tests to understand user needs and preferences.
  • Assisting in analysing and prioritising user feedback, issues, and requests.
  • Assisting in communicating and presenting business requirements and solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in conducting quality assurance and user acceptance testing of the products and services.
  • Learning and developing relevant skills and competencies, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and data analysis.

About you

You must demonstrate:

  • Either two or more A levels, or a level 3 apprenticeship in order to meet the entry requirements of the level 4 apprenticeship.

And;

  • Some experience or interest in business analysis, product management, software development, or a related field. 
  • Some knowledge or familiarity with business analysis tools and techniques, such as user stories, wireframes, prototypes, data models, and testing scenarios. 
  • Some knowledge or familiarity with agile, scrum, lean, and design thinking methodologies. 
  • Knowledge of law firms and legal technology – in particular, a solid comprehension of Microsoft 365 and other document-production solutions, including how fee earners and support staff use these technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and levels of stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve complex business problems. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate and build rapport with diverse and cross-functional teams. 
  • Self-motivation and an eagerness to learn and grow as a business analyst.
  • Experience of legal or professional services environments.
  • Experience of managing process / system change, preferably, but not essentially in a legal environment.
  • A record of delivering multiple, concurrent projects / initiatives.
  • The ability to accept direction from, and offer guidance to, colleagues across the firm.
  • An enthusiasm to develop professionally.
