Legal Cashier

The role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Legal Cashier to join our finance department, reporting to the Senior Cashier for our Client Accounts and assisting on a day to day basis with aspects of both Client and Office Account functions, supporting the business with all cashiering tasks.

Your role will be predominantly focused on tasks related to the Client Accounting function but will cover as required and get exposure to the full remit of tasks across the cashiering function.

Role responsibility

You will be primarily focussed on cashiering tasks including;

  • Monitoring our online banking facilities for receipts and payments.
  • Raising client account cheque payments.
  • Processing client account cheque receipts.
  • Processing client to client Journals.
  • Processing client account to office account bill payments.
  • Processing bank to bank transfers and journals.
  • Operation of designated deposits.
  • Covering the process of CHAPS payments through online banking. Barclays RBS & Lloyds Bank.
  • Reconciling bank statements with Elite 3E (the firm's accounting system) cashbook entries.
  • Dealing with queries from fee earners and other internal stakeholders.
  • Liaising with the firm's bank where necessary
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

You will also cover as required and gain exposure to tasks including;

  • Raising office account cheque payments.
  • Processing office account cheque receipts.
  • Entering supplier invoices into Elite & reconciling supplier statements.
  • Entering Counsel fee notes, expert and agent's invoices into Elite & reconciling statements.
  • Processing weekly purchase ledger BACS payment runs.
  • Loading CSV files from suppliers through Excel into Elite.
  • Chasing internal allocation of rechargeable disbursements.
  • Nominal journals.

About you

You will be able to demonstrate;

  • Previous experience working on Client & Office Account tasks outlined above.
  • The ability to work in a deadline driven environment, to prioritise your own workload, to manage your time and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A confident and clear communication style, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the Solicitor's Account Rules.
  • Knowledge of VAT regulations.
  • Awareness on Money Laundering regulations impacting the cashiering function.
  • The ability to deal with queries of fee earners and other internal stakeholders in an efficient, helpful, and timely way.
  • A growth mindset, with the motivation to develop your skills and take on additional responsibilities as required.
  • A willingness to contribute to the team's success, being flexible and willing to assist others where required.
