Senior Business Development Executive, Real Estate

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Business Development team as a Senior Business Development Executive for our Real Estate department reporting directly to the Senior Business Development Manager for Real Estate. The Senior BD Executive will work alongside the SBDM to support the delivery of the business plans within Real Estate,  Living and Real Estate Investment.  

Real Estate is one of the largest departments in the firm providing legal services and specialist expertise to clients across the full lifecycle of a real estate asset including construction, development, planning, banking and real estate finance, real estate disputes, building safety, corporate real estate and residential development sales.  

Our clients range from large housebuilders, developers, investors and landlords and private family offices. 

The role has a primary focus on business development but will require marketing experience to support and drive campaigns, sponsorships, thought leadership panel and round table events and PR and will be supported by the marketing communications team on the effective delivery of marketing activity. 

Role responsibility

Responsibilities will be to support the objectives and strategy of the business plans for the areas of focus within Real Estate, requiring significant interaction with Partners, lawyers and other business services teams in the implementation of the plans.  The SBDE will be expected to lead on projects and develop initiatives from concept to completion with clear demonstration of ROI.

  • Provide client and target client activity reports for SBDM and areas of focus leads ensuring data is up to date on key clients and targets for each of the areas of focus
  • Working with SBDM, partners and lawyers to support conversion and follow ups with clients and targets post events, marketing activity and ongoing communications
  • Ensure client and target data is updated on the CRM tool working alongside our CRM Manager and Executive
  • Provide research on clients and targets to support business development targeting, initiatives, pitches and credentials preparation
  • Prepare credentials and pitch presentations for new business opportunities:
      • have the experience and confidence to assimilate RFPs, demonstrating a pragmatic and creative approach to respond effectively to the brief.  This would include as assessing requirements of pitch opportunities and making recommendations on approach
      • support the team to articulate their strengths and suggest inclusion of other real estate and firmwide teams where relevant
      • Track and obtain feedback on outcome of any pitches and RFPs
  • Ensure credentials across areas of focus are kept up to date and updated within the Experience data
  • Ensure that collateral is kept up to date and reviewed/updated on a six monthly basis.
  • Support the SBDM on the development of the Real Estate thought leadership campaign working with partners and lawyers on development of ideas for articles, events and digital media with a focus on reaching core real estate and areas of focus audiences
  • Work alongside the marcomms team to provide support on delivering best practice, messaging and ROI
  • Organise events both internal and external managing guests list to ensure relevant to event, acceptances, marketing materials, running order and hospitality requirements
  • Work alongside Knowledge Management teams to ensure synergy between legal updates and thought leadership 
  • Oversee and monitor business development budgets and expenditure and keep SBDM and area of focus leads updated on a monthly basis
  • Drafting and submitting directory submissions

About you

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience working in professional services, preferably within the legal sector
  • Experience of working within the Real Estate industry
  • Initiative and proactivity, being able to anticipate stakeholders needs. 
  • Ability to work to deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver in a deadline driven environment 
  • The ability to think strategically and commercially
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to interact with and build relationships with individuals at all levels across the business.
